BEERI LAVI AGRICULTURE SERVICES
I am an agronomist and a soldier in the war against hunger, helping to improve the welfare of people who make their living out of agriculture.
I have decades of professional experience as a senior project manager in Africa, Western Europe, and the USA. My experience includes large-scale planning, establishment, and management of agricultural villages, farms, and agriculture education centers; and developing and delivering agriculture courses to growers and professionals.
SELECT PROJECTS
Nuovo Village, The Republic of the Congo
(2011-2020)
As the Agricultural Department Manager at the LR Company, I led the implementation of President Denis Sassou Nguesso’s initiative to establish 21 modern agricultural villages in the Republic of the Congo, aimed at achieving national food independence.
I managed Israeli and Congolese expert teams overseeing the Nkouo and Imvuba villages, and planned additional sites in Odziba and Pointe-Noire. In parallel, I established and managed four large private farms in poultry, aquaculture, greenhouse and open-field vegetables, and fruit orchards. I also built training programs to transfer expertise and ensure long-term local management.
By 2020, the villages and farms were operating independently with great success, supported by a development budget of ~USD 50 million.
Introducing Israeli green foliage to European and US markets
(2008-2011)
As Head of the Green Foliage Export Unit at Agrexco (Carmel), I grew Israel’s foliage exports from 20% to 80% of the national flower market, reaching ~USD 80 million annually.
I initiated a ILS 500k R&D program with the Volcani Institute that shifted exports from air to sea freight, developing a Controlled Atmosphere (CA) system for competitive global pricing.
In parallel, I launched marketing initiatives with top florists in Europe and the US, boosting recognition of Israeli foliage, expanding cultivation areas, and raising grower revenues. These efforts included guiding tours for growers at flower retailers and arrangers in the US, UK, The Netherlands, and France.
